Northwest Georgia Credit Union Hosts Free BBQ Lunch
ROME, GA, October 17, 2006—On Thursday, October 19, Northwest Georgia Credit Union will host its annual Membership Appreciation Barbeque. This free barbeque lunch is provided each year to celebrate International Credit Union Day, as well as thank credit union members for their continued support. All members of Northwest Georgia Credit Union are invited to participate in the festivities, which will be held rain or shine from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at both the Redmond Circle Office and the Dean Street Office.
For 58 years, credit unions have set aside the third Thursday in October to celebrate International Credit Union Day. This designated day provides members, volunteers, and employees an opportunity to remember the rich heritage of the credit union movement and promote understanding and support for the credit union difference. Credit unions, which are not-for-profit financial institutions, were founded and continue to operate on the principles of member service, member ownership, and democracy.
Northwest Georgia Credit Union began as the Floyd County Teacher’s Credit Union in 1961 and have since expanded their field of membership to include all public and private local school systems, in addition to several large and small businesses and organizations in Floyd County. The credit union has approximately 13,000 members, and offers a full range of financial services which include free checking, free online banking and bill pay, loans, VISA credit cards, and VISA gift cards.
