Tom Nunn and Progressive Leader Scholarship Recipients Announced
Rome, GA, June 1, 2007- Northwest Georgia Credit Union recently announced Rachel Tucker as the recipient of the Tom Nunn Memorial Scholarship, and Brandon Green as the recipient of the Progressive Leader Scholarship. Rachel, the daughter of Michael and Elissa Tucker, graduated from Model High School this past weekend. She will attend Shorter College and plans to study Early Childhood/Special Education. The Tom Nunn Memorial Scholarship, awarded by Northwest Georgia Credit Union, commemorates the life of the late Tom Nunn by honoring his commitment to service and to his community. Each spring Northwest Georgia Credit Union awards the scholarship to a student who exemplifies a similar desire to pursue excellence in merit and in service.
Brandon Green, the recipient of the Progressive Leader Scholarship, is the son of Eric and Sherry Green. He graduated from Rome High School this past weekend and will attend Auburn University to study Finance. The Progressive Leader Scholarship is a new essay-based scholarship given by the credit union to recognize a student leader who demonstrates a passion for a specific cause. Northwest Georgia Credit Union introduced this scholarship to commend the efforts of students who are in pursuit of a cause that is important to them. President Cheryl Huffman explains why the second scholarship was added, “For many years, we gave the Tom Nunn Memorial Scholarship to encourage service and academic excellence. But, we also wanted to honor the entrepreneurial student leaders, since this pioneering spirit is so close to the heart of the credit union movement.”
