Northwest Georgia Credit Union is a free benefit you can offer your employees! It costs nothing for an organization to become a Sponsor Employee Group (SEG), and it provides your employees with a valuable financial resource. Any organization in good standing in the Greater Rome community that is not already served by a credit union may become a SEG, pending approval by the Board of Directors.
Why Do Employees Want to Join a Credit Union?
- In American Banker/Gallup Consumer Surveys, credit unions have ranked significantly higher on quality and satisfaction levels than banks for 21 years.
- Credit unions offer free financial counseling to all members.
- Credit unions offer a more affordable solution to their personal finances. Credit unions offer low-cost or even free products and services, lower rates on loans, and fewer fees. In fact, the average credit union’s revenue from fees is 30% less than banks!
- Because the credit union works so closely with your human resources or payroll office, setting up direct deposit and payroll deduction is easier.
- Credit unions are owned by the members, rather than stockholders.
- Credit unions offer uniquely personal service, due to the “people helping people” philosophy and localized decision-making.
What Does the Employer Need To Do?
Offering NWGACU membership is uncomplicated for the employer and provides a valuable benefit to your organization. Some assistance on the part of the employer is necessary, however to educate employees about the benefits of membership. Afterall, how can employees take advantage of something they don’t know about? As a Sponsor Employee Group, you agree to the following things:
- Select a member of your staff to serve as your SEG Ambassador. This person should be someone who has frequent interaction with employees, especially in the new hire stage. This person will provide information about NWGACU, and serve as the credit union’s representative in your organization.
- Assist in promotional efforts of the credit union. From time to time, NWGACU will send you posters to hang in your employee lounges, or we may ask for your help in making your employees aware of a new benefit available to them.
Northwest Georgia Credit Union will supply you with the necessary promotional materials, and we are happy to provide customized materials for your organization for special purposes. To assist you in financial education, NWGACU will also attend benefit or health fairs, provide financial seminars upon request, and set up onsite enrollments.
