New teachers from Rome City, Floyd County, and the area private schools were honored and inspired at the 2008 Brown Bag Luncheon on Friday, July 25th.  Hosted by Northwest Georgia Credit Union, The Brown Bag Luncheon is an annual event celebrating, welcoming, and motivating new educators in the Rome area. The Brown Bag Lunch is an exciting event every year for new teachers in our community and is successful because businesses and organizations from the Rome community generously donate door prizes and gift items for the event. This year, administrators and new teachers met and listened to the encouraging words and new ideas from a fellow educator, Ms. Leanne Maule, who is the 2009 Georgia Teacher of the Year. Maule is a high school teacher from Cartersville and she encouraged Rome’s new teachers to think creatively in their new role. With insight she has gained throughout her career, Maule discussed tips for reaching students with differences in learning styles.
