What is Unbounce Courtesy Pay?

Every now and then, we are all bound to make mistakes in our checking accounts. Unforeseen expenses or miscalculating your account balance can cause you to overdraw your account. Unbounce Courtesy Pay allows us to pay items on your behalf, even when your checking account balance is at zero. Unbounce Courtesy Pay, also known as our standard overdraft practices, is a benefit offered to qualified members that allows us to pay transactions presented against your checking account even if it causes your account to become overdrawn up to an aggregate limit of $500. Unbounce Courtesy Pay covers checks, ACH items, bill pay transactions, and one-time debit card transactions (only if you opt-in). It keeps you from facing additional charges from the merchant, not to mention the embarrassment of a declined transaction.

How does Unbounce Courtesy Pay Work?

Overdrafts on your checking account, up to $500 (including the amount of any overdrawn items and Unbounce Courtesy Pay fees), may be honored by Northwest Georgia Credit Union. Each time you access your Unbounce Courtesy Pay, we will assess a $30 fee. You must then bring your account current within 30 days.

What if I Already Have Overdraft Protection?

Kudos for being a smart consumer--overdraft protection can save you money, and we applaud you for thinking forward. If you have set up overdraft protection, whether by loan or transfer from savings (or both), we will always attempt to pay an overdraft using these methods first before accessing your Unbounce Courtesy Pay.

Do I Need to Apply for Unbounce Courtesy Pay?

No. As long as you are a member in good standing, you have been given the privilege of Unbounce Courtesy Pay as a feature of your Unbelievable Checking Account. However, ALL members who want their Unbounce Courtesy Pay to work for their one-time debit card transactions, MUST give us permission (we call this opting in). Otherwise, you face the potential for declined transactions when using your debit card if you account balance has reached zero.

For members in good standing, you do not need to take any action to add Unbounce Courtesy Pay to your Unbelievable Checking Account. However, there is some action needed on your part: in order for your Unbounce Courtesy Pay to work on your debit card transactions, you must opt-in. To opt-in, click the button below to print the Regulation E Opt-In Form, then bring it to a branch or mail it to us at:

NWGACU, Attn: Reg E, 1307 Redmond Road, Rome, GA 30165.

Why Must I Opt-In for Debit Card Transactions?

A new government regulation called Regulation E prevents us from authorizing and paying your overdrafts for everyday debit card transactions, unless you ask us to. By simply submitting the Regulation E Opt-In Form, you will easily protect your account and avoid the embarrassment of your debit card transactions declining. While you will still be charged the $30 fee each time we pay any debit card-related overdraft on your behalf, you will prevent your transactions from being declined if you overdraw your account accidentally while using your debit card.
